Being Good to Yourself!

What does the above really mean? Taking time away from others to clear our thoughts? Hedonistically pursuing material benefits?I am sure there could be consideration for the above. Of course these pursuits would not return long term benefits yet so many of us look no further than what relief we can get immediately.
I have come to believe that truly being good to ourselves is surrounding ourselves with good.
This can be a thing however I think you would see the more important item being good people.
This would especially apply to associates outside of our business.
An example could be the local Chamber of Commerce, business-networking groups, and philanthropically service clubs.
These organizations have memberships that can provide us with a different perspective.
People with the same problems can provide the usual support. At times this can degenerate into commissary, they too being caught up into the "fire-fighting" mentality. To change the source of insight usually provides us with an enhanced insight. You have such an opportunity with every customer, employee, referring contact, other small business owner, group leadership, service board member, etc.
Look around at the leaders of the most active businesses in your area. Invite them to a lunch and discuss what has assisted them in becoming so good to themselves.
We have chosen few of the staff of our company with industry specific knowledge so as to get fresh perspectives when we design a course. They bring a "newness" that we turn into the best ideas for our clients.
You need to be good to yourself by surrounding yourself with these types on a day to day basis.
These people are on a different road, the pro-active one to success!
